artist statement
My artwork is currently exploring minimalism, abstraction, color relationships, patterns, geometric form, absence of information and silhouette.
My works on paper are made with a bamboo brush and black ink. Works on canvas are painted in oil or acrylic paint.
bio
I am an artist whose artistic journey began in 2003 as a film photographer. Initially I shot color negative film and then had that film developed. In an effort to learn more about photography I decided to take photography classes at the local community college. There I worked with 35mm black and white film and produced silver gelatin prints.
In 2018 I decided to update my digital photography skills by pursuing an associate degree in photography. During this period, I was introduced to painting and drawing and decided to continue pursuing these artforms at UMSL in 2020 by pursuing a degree in Studio Practice (degree expected May 2022).
Currently, I am interested in exploring photographic processes that incorporate drawing and selective hand painting.
