artist statement
I consider myself to be a multimedia artist working in traditional formats as a starting point before finalizing my visual projects digitally. For the past twenty years I have been drawing traditionally with pencil, pen, and paper and since 2015 used Adobe software to make digital work. While I say digital work, I do not just mean drawing or coloring digitally, but also dappling into the video editing process for my own simple projects. In these digital aspects, I am self taught with some Youtube help as well.
I do not consider myself as having a distinct style, but someone who wants to make and contribute to projects. Since 2018, I have been working with a team as started by my friends to make sort of animated projects. We are all very interested in and knowledgeable about the process that we are using the skill sets we have to make these projects. My part in these projects involve working with storyboards and concept art on paper and digital. I plan to post on social media some of the concept art I’ve made once the projects have been released since that is standard in the animation industry.
I always loved animation and want to work in that industry whether it’s as an artist or a writer for projects. I like learning about the process of animation and in general, I like learning about people different from myself. My art is more illustrative attempting to mimic certain styles and motions without plagiarizing. I aim to improve my production speed and artistic skill with each project and side project I involve myself in.
bio
I was born in South Bend, Indiana for the first nine years of my life. I moved to Columbus, Ohio in the summer of 2005 and lived there until November 2017. Since then, my mother, younger sister, and I have lived in St. Louis with dad.
I have wanted to work in the animation industry since I was ten-years-old when I saw Pixar Animation Studios’ Cars in theaters. Prior to seeing the movie, I was mesmerized by the process of how animated films are made when watching behind the scenes videos. There is a history to the art form with all sorts of people working together to make something.
My best friend, Sage Mann, formed TAPAS and Stuff Productions in 2018 and I work with him as a storyboard artist, concept artist, and voice actress. I am also going to write and direct some episodes of one of our projects, Keys & Kingdoms: The Choices.
I have had my art displayed in an art show when I was around six or seven-years-old.
I am mostly self taught in digital work with some help and advice from my younger sister. After graduating I will be continuing my work with TAPAS and Stuff Productions, with a potential goal to make it an official company that would allow for us to make our projects at our own pace.
